Mastering Blues Licks and Transitions

Once we've covered all the scale forms, I'll introduce you to 30 licks from the various forms, including several transitional licks to help you move from one form to the next. Many guitar players talk about breaking out of the blues box—this is where you'll achieve that. You'll learn how to mix major and minor blues, understanding when and how to do it effectively. This is followed by a call and response section where we jam together in real-time, honing your ear training skills and learning to phrase just as we did when learning to speak.

The course also includes a bonus section with 12 of my top blues visual jam tracks. As I've discussed in numerous lessons, starting with a one-chord vamp is ideal, and I provide several of these for you. This helps you focus on playing on top of the chord, and I offer three keys to practice this with. You'll then work with more than one chord, with a two-chord vamp in a Texas blues rock style. Finally, you'll experience seven full-song blues jams in various keys and styles, including straight and shuffle rhythms, giving you a well-rounded understanding of the songs you'll encounter when improvising with blues music.
